Once Upon a Family Time

Make today a fairytale.

"And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Esther 4:14b

Car Ride/Table Talk Questions:

Who is your favorite Disney princess or prince (or top 3)? If you could live in a fairytale, which one would it be? Our bible verse is about a young woman who God made queen to save His people from an evil villain. You may not be a king or queen right now, but God has placed you in your current circumstances for such a time as this. How does that make you feel? What is one dream you pray God makes come true?

Royal Tips: Marriage and Parenting

And They Lived Happily... Ever... After? 🎉

You met. You fell in love. You got married. And you lived happily ever after. THE END! Abrupt, right? What happens after... you know, the "ever after" part? We won't find our answer in a Disney fairytale, romantic comedy or Hallmark movie. When you're juggling work, parenting, overwhelming schedules, house cleaning, extended family, and the unexpected, your dream life with your spouse may no longer feel like a wish your heart made. Sounds like a tale as old as time, am I right? But fear not! Here are 5 MOMENTS you can share with your spouse to rekindle the romantic happily ever after. And it can START with YOU!

  1. Thank your spouse for something. Anything! (Thank you for cooking dinner. Thank you for changing the baby's diaper. Thank you for the hard work you do to provide for our family.)
  2. Touch your spouse every day (no, not like that... save that for later). Put your hand on his shoulder. Give her hand a light squeeze as you walk by. A random sweet kiss.
  3. While shopping, pick up something extra your spouse will like and even add it to the shopping list. And tell your spouse you were thinking of them. (flowers, sushi roll, their favorite breakfast treat, etc.)
  4. Do your spouse's chore. Does your spouse normally do the dishes or take out the trash? Do it for them this week. They may not say thank you, but they'll be glad to have one less thing on their plate.
  5. Invite your spouse to play a game. Not into games? How about a coffee date (even if it's at home for 15 minutes)? Your spouse may not communicate this, but they NEED undivided time with you for a conversation or a few laughs. If you need a conversation starter, ask "What has been challenging for you this week? What has been your favorite moment this week?"

Take your family on a creative journey filled with storytelling and art! Prep Time: 30 min; Duration: 1 hour

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

  • Paper, pencils, erasers
  • Colored pencils, crayons, or markers
  • Optional: Play adventurous background music!

Step 2: Set the Scene

  • Pick your adventure setting: ocean, forest, city, etc.
  • Draw your hero: Each person creates a character (a knight, detective, magical creature, etc.).
  • Choose the villain: Decide who (or what) you’re defeating (dragon, sorcerer, sea monster) and what they want. (Treasure? Power? Cookies?).

Step 3: The Quest Begins
